Likeness

Today I had the pleasure of being home alone for the day, all because of Andy's hockey tournament. Being a lovely day, I sat in the back garden and in a habit I've developed for such conditions, read like a mad woman. I finished reading (although in truth it was more like tackling the last 3/4 of) Planet of the Apes. After that, not being sunburnt but sufficiently allergic to the sun to have to sit in the shade, I read of the whole of K-PAX. I'm aware that there was recently a movie of this in the cinema, and am now curious as to how that could possibly have been made into a movie. Not the plot, which was clever enough, but the actually way in which it was written. Following that, and finding the sun was still up, I hit the Salmon of Doubt, which after reading the introduction and the majority of the 'Life' section I decided was well written and of course entertaining. However, I had put the last book down for a while, because Douglas Adams' writing has the general effect of making me want to write something... Which is something I shouldn't do under such a direct inpiration from any literary source.

So now having finished my new books, I think tomorrow will be another trip to the book store. Yeah!
